As part of the celebration of National Clean-Up Month and International Coastal Clean-Up Day, the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) XII conducted a Regional Simultaneous Clean-Up Activity on September 17, 2022, at Queen Tuna Park, General Santos City.

The theme for this year is “Reimagining a Clean, Healthy, Sustainable, and Trash-Free Sea.” This activity aimed to seek environmental protection on various environmental issues, such as proper solid waste management or disposal, climate action, and water body protection.

A short program was conducted at Queen Tuna Park. EMB XII Regional Director Omar M. Saikol, MiSDS, gave a short message of appreciation to the participants who joined the Coastal Clean-Up. He stressed out that these clean-up activities through individual small initiatives, if done collectively, have a big impact on our environment.

Moreover, Chairperson Eliseo Garay, Barangay Local Government Unit of Dadiangas South, General Santos City, emphasized the importance of the cleanliness of our community and if we continue to help one another, we can save our environment.

Lastly, Dr. Edna L. Vilches, Principal of Dadiangas West Central Elementary School, highlighted that, as an educator, we should have a sense of responsibility in maintaining our environment. We, too, should set a good example and contribute to the conservation of our environment.

The said activity was attended by Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, Philippine Coast Guard, General Santos City Police, Maritime Industry Authority XII, Protected Area Management Board-Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape, and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office of General Santos City.
