The Environmental Management Bureau XII, in partnership with the Municipal Environmental Management Resource Office Tupi, South Cotabato led Bike and Plant for Clean Air on November 7, 2022. The activity kicked off with Zumba at the Municipal Grounds of Tupi and culminated with Tree Planting at Barangay Linan of the same municipality.
During her opening message, Tupi Councilor Glezel M. Trabado encouraged every individual to take part in sustaining Tupi and other municipalities’ clean, and breathable air.
Joined by more than 70 participants from the Tupi Mountain Bikers Association, Tupi Zumbanatics, Tupi Zumba Family, Tupi Amyak Maleh Wildlife Organization, Local Government Unit of Tupi, and Bureau of Fire Protection Tupi Station planted a total of 100 Palo Santo (Triplaris cumingiana Polygonaceae) tree seedlings to promote the planting of trees and biking as a mode of transportation to reduce carbon footprints.
The Bike and Plant for Clean Air is one of the activities for the celebration of National Clean Air Month. Representing EMB XII Regional Director Omar M. Saikol, MiSDS, Air Quality Monitoring Unit Chief Engr. Elmer Samaranos added that “Clean Air Month is celebrated to remind us of our commitment to achieve and maintain air quality that meets the National Ambient Guidelines at the same time, minimizing the possible associated negative impacts to everybody’s life and to the economy as well”.
